On-chain coordination

Or how do we optimize humanity

Human beings are social animals. Does it matter? Well, it seems like we cannot survive on our own, really 😅

One might argue a small group could survive easily, like Indigenous tribes still do. But I'm sure even if you are a minimalist, and if you can live without a smartphone, you wouldn't say no to a life-saving surgery 👀

It's probably better to all live together and benefit from the best prowess humanity has to offer! But if so, why are so many people angry at the system to the point they claim they'd rather exit it 🤔

In my opinion, it comes down to coordination. Of course, no one thing can explain everything, but human coordination failure explains why we can never make the right decision as a group, starting with nurturing the planet on which we live (look up the tragedy of the commons). As long as you cannot trust the other parties, you will never make the wise decision (look up the prisoner's dilemma).

And there is the problem of scale, as one might trust their direct family or neighbourhood, but how can you trust billions of people? 🫠

If you've read the previous articles, you know the answer 😂 Web3! Take a transparent immutable decentralized infrastructure, you don't need to trust anyone to use it and to believe it will always work (sending or receiving - BTC value compared to dollars is irrelevant here).

For those who may think "I don't know that it is!", then proceed differently, find what sounds the most risky about it, and investigate ... ask a developer you trust, or confirm with chatGPT 🫡

So how do we trust our society? By making it trustless! 😎

Trustlessness is an emerging feature of a decentralized system that's easy to join, and easier to leave. At least that's my opinion.

Some of you might have noticed already, but there is an interesting consequence to building a whole society with such a feature: there is no government! 🙈 Note this isn't the goal, just one of many consequences

What do you call a State without a government? Some people call it "Network State", but there are way too many definitions to be able to agree on one. So I'll go with "decentralized nation" 😜

It's impossible to get all humans to agree on every public decision, it's even sometimes hard to agree with our past selves, which is why the future will need plenty of options when it comes to society! Public goods will be picked like private services, and people will get used to choosing their level of freedom as a trade-off for comfort ... 🤖

Is this a faraway future? For adoption to reach every single human on the planet, yes. For us to experience it, absolutely not! Many communities are already iterating and improving their framework, so if you want to see an optimistic decentralized future, join them! 💪
